Why Opt for Quality Food Over Quantity?
Let me ask you a very simple question. Which is more important: Quality Food Over Quantity? When you do your grocery shopping, do you look at the outside label of your food? Do you determine whether or not it is a good or bad choice? Do you flip over the packaging and read the nutrition facts such as the calories, grams of fat, carbs, sodium?
Or do you look at the ingredients and decide if it is a good choice based on what is actually in the food that you are eating? I am going to be very honest with you. The quality of your food is more important than what the label on the outside reads. Don’t get sucked into those labels!!
Low Fat or Fat-Free?
Let me be real honest with you, I used to be the girl who had no knowledge about the importance of the ingredients. I looked at the outer packaging of the foods that I was buying and if it sounded good then I TRUSTED the label and bought it. I grew up when Weight Watchers was big, when low fat and fat-free were the only way to go, when the Smart One’s frozen meals were a staple in houses and when 100 calorie packs were the snack of choice and you could have Diet Pepsi or Coke Zero over regular Soda. #truth
How Nutrition Education Becomes Part of My Lifestyle
Nutrition education was not a part of my lifestyle. Over the years, and as life happened I started to gain weight. After having KJ and gaining 60+ pounds and I had 30 pounds that I could not get rid off. I was still wearing maternity jeans 6 months after I had KJ and I would only wear them when I absolutely had too! I also was the girl who wore her workout clothes but hardly worked out! #truthagain
The bottom line is that I was living miserable and pretending to be happy and smiling on the outside but inside I was a hot mess. I was miserable not just because of my baby belly (LOL) but because I wasn’t comfortable in my skin. I literally HATED getting dressed and I was so embarrassed about my body! It was just a miserable time for me. I didn’t know where to start and I had no background in nutrition to make the changes, I mean I was a trainer but never really dove into the nutrition side.
The Challenge Group That Changed Me
At this point, I’m just going to say it…….I am so thankful that my coach who I connected with from an online business group reached out to me and invited me to join her challenge group. That was the biggest blessing of my life. I had no idea what I was doing and I needed help.
She helped me by giving me guidance on how to set realistic and achievable goals, she added me to an online accountability and support group and she helped me to identify foods that I was eating that could derail my progress. Then, the BIGGEST benefit to being a part of this group was when I wasn’t getting results right away.
Because I had this mentality that because I said I was going to make a change and I worked out for 1 full week that I should have lost 30 pounds by now! YES, even when you have a fitness background sometimes we get lost and need help too. Truth be told my coach was an accountant, helping me!!! LOL!!!!
When I wasn’t seeing the results right away, I was devastated. She talked me off the ledge and brought me back to reality. She showed me that this is a process and she also pointed out that I might not be eating the right foods and that I was undoing all my hard work on the weekends. I learned how to Eat Clean by Reading the Book, “Eat Clean Recharged” by Tosca Reno.
Eventually, I slowly over time made changes to our lifestyle and our family. I couldn’t believe what I was eating before that was so unhealthy that I thought was actually good for me. Ready for this…. #truthagain

I am forever grateful for that personal invite! Clean Eating, Challenge Groups, Coaching has changed my body, my mindset and my life forever. I can say that after about 120 days of really focusing on working out daily, eating clean, and embracing a new lifestyle vs a crash diet that my life was totally different.
Yes, I was a NEW MOM! I had confidence in my body which obviously affected my relationship with my husband. Then, I had energy that I didn’t have before because I wasn’t feeding my body crap but I was fueling my body with good foods that were giving me the energy to play and keep up with KJ. That was a GIFT!!!!
Staying Out of Doom and Gloom
Plus, I finally have a positive attitude and I didn’t feel like my life was doom and gloom. I have been living this lifestyle for 1 1/2 years actually! I can CONFIDENTLY say that I am living proof that this is not a fad or a quick fix and that it works.
But you have to TRUST the process, you can’t quit before you see results and you have to have patience!!! You have to believe that you can and will change if you put your energy in that direction. You know what they say. Where your energy goes is where the success will go! If you focus on the fact that you can’t lose weight or you can’t get rid of that spare tire then you won’t ever get rid of it.
It’s also like this, if you keep saying you don’t have time then you WON’T have time to make the change. I get it, we are all busy! We are all wearing many many hats in this life and we all have the same 24 hours in the day! If I could find that 25th hour, believe me, I would be sharing it with you too!
What makes me different than others?
#1 I had believed before I had results.
I knew that somehow and someway my body was going to change. I trusted the success stories from the program I was doing and I thought to myself if they can do it, then so can I.
#2 I didn’t give up in the first 2 weeks when I didn’t have massive results.
I only lost about 4 lbs in 2 weeks. However, I could have given up and blamed the program and called it a hoax. But, I didn’t! I reflected on the fact that I wasn’t following the nutrition plan, that my sore muscles were adjusting to the new workouts and I was probably retaining some water. I could step up my game, I could be better! It wasn’t the program, I just had to be patient with it.
#3 I had support!
So many people try to go at this alone and they think that they are the ONLY one with these problems. But we are ALL busy! We all have CRAVINGS for SWEETS (heck even now I still love chips and guacamole, margaritas and Cookies). We ALL have weeks where we are less than motivated by our workouts. It happens, but I at least have a community of other women to tell me to keep going and that this too shall pass.
After those 60 days were over I felt this very strong pull to do what my coach did for me for others. I felt my background and who I truly was making its way back in! She had invited me to coach many times but I kept saying no, I had a new baby! I didn’t have time for that!! But how the heck could I keep this a secret.
I mean if it worked for me then there have to be other women out there that were struggling like I was. There is a need for me to share this. I have to teach this, I have to go out and shout from the rooftops that transformation doesn’t just happen to those in the infomercial. I’m a real mom, with real weight, real struggles and I did it! So this is why I’m writing this!!! It was this time 2 1/2 years ago that I was just starting my journey and it was truly the BATTLE to be a STRONG MOM!
I’m getting ready to launch my next challenge group called #STRONGLIKEMOM! It is geared towards MOMS, WOMEN, really anyone who is BUSY, makes excuses but is ready to chuck those excuses to the wind and face the problem head on. Those women like me who were running on fumes but had a motivation to change so big that it overtook that desire to stay the same!

What are the requirements of the group?
Each person is required to do a Beachbody Fitness Program. I will actually help you decide which one is going to be the best fit for you ( FREE 14 Day Challenge). This is based on your current ability level, your limitations, and your interests. You should follow the nutrition plan that comes with the program and replace 1 meal a day with Shakeology for the duration of the group!
The group starts on August 21st (Free August 7th) with the prep week and workouts start on the 28th. The group is 5 weeks long in total and then you can move to the 2nd and 3rd phase if you would like. My goal is to not make this a crash diet but to help you build healthier new habits and a more positive mindset along the way.
What am I going to teach you?
How to set realistic and achievable goals. I am going to teach you how to meal plan, how to grocery shop, read labels, choose healthier snacks, handle temptations, cravings, late night snacking, emotional eating, restaurant menus and more! Everything that I struggled with in my own personal journey I am going to teach you as well.
Where will the group be held?
The group will be held through the Beachbody Challenge Tracker App. You will log on daily and get inspiration and tips from me plus workout accountability, food tips and more. You will log your workouts and Shakeology daily in the app! We will track your progress towards your goals and evaluate every single week. It is awesome and I just love the energy of the groups.
